Add Missing Erg Results

Modified on Wed, 26 Jun at 9:27 AM

Sometimes, despite the best preparations, things don't go as planned. Whether it’s because a rower couldn’t connect their app to the Concept2 erg before practice or their phone ran out of battery, missing results can occur. Fortunately, RowHero makes it easy for coaches and coxswains to add these results. This guide will walk you through two straightforward methods to ensure all your rowers' data is accurately recorded.

Method 1: Adding Results One Piece at a Time

Step 1. Navigate to the Team Workout

  1. Find the Team Workout you're missing results for. Most likely, it's a recent workout, which you can find on the Team's Home Screen.
  2. Tap on the Team Workout card or on the "View Results" button.

Step 2. Select the Piece You Want to Add Results For

  1. Swipe left or right on the carousel at the top of the page to find the right piece. You can also tap the "Workout Summary" button at the top of the screen to choose the piece more quickly.

Step 3. Enter the Piece Editor

  1. Scroll to the name of the athlete for whom you want to add a result.
  2. Tap on the "Add Result" link under their name. You may also see "Change Result" if you have added a result in the past.

Step 4. Enter the Time/Distance and Stroke Rate for the Piece

  1. Input the necessary data into the fields.
  2. Note that Average Split is calculated for you. RowHero does not allow typing in the average split and deriving the time or distance automatically, as it might not match the erg. For example, does a 2:00.1 2K split mean a 8:00.4 or 8:00.5 total time?

Step 5. Save the Results

  1. Tap "Save" to store the data.

Tips

  1. Ensure accuracy by double-checking the entered data.
  2. Encourage athletes to inform you immediately if they couldn't record their workout.

Method 2: Adding Multiple Results at Once

Option A: Manually Adding Results

Step 1. Navigate to the Team Workout

  1. Find the Team Workout you're missing results for. Most likely, it's a recent workout, which you can find on the Team's Home Screen.
  2. Tap on the Team Workout card.

Step 2. Enter the Workout Editor

  1. Scroll to the name of the athlete for whom you want to add multiple results
  2. Tap on the "Add Results" link under their name. You may also see "Change Results" if they already have some results added.

Step 3. Enter the Results for Each Piece

  1. Tap on any blue field to edit the data or tap on any gray underline under time, meter, or "spm" to edit input the data.
  2. On iOS, you can navigate between fields using the Previous and Next links on top of the keyboard. On Android you can use the Next button on the keyboard.
  3. Continue adding, editing, or removing results until finished.

Step 4. Save the Results

  1. Tap "Save" to store the data.

Tips

  1. Ensure accuracy by double-checking the entered data.
  2. Encourage athletes to inform you immediately if they couldn't record their workout, so you know whose data to capture.

Option B: Importing Data from Concept2

Follow Steps 1 and 2 under Option A and then resume with Step 3 below.

Step 3. Connect to the Concept2

  1. Tap the "Import from Concept2" button under the athlete's name.
  2. Enter Connect Mode on the Concept2's PM5 monitor.
  3. Tap the specific Concept2 monitor in the list on the app OR tap your phone to the monitor screen to connect.
  4. RowHero will automatically read the workouts in memory once connected.

Step 4. Choose the Workouts to Import Data From

  1. Select the workouts which have pieces you'd like to import. You may choose only to select one.
  2. If RowHero can determine that there is no ambiguity in how your imported data might be assigned to the athlete's pieces, then you can tap the "Import" button immediately. For example, the workout is a 4 x 500m and you select a 4 x 500m workout in memory. Skip to Step 6.
  3. If RowHero determines that it's unclear which pieces should be imported, you can tap the "Select Pieces" button. For example, the workout is a 5 x 1500m partner relay so the Concept2 stores it as 10 x 1500m.

Step 5. Choose the Pieces to Import

  1. If you needed to tap "Select Pieces" in Step 4, now select exactly which pieces you want to import.
  2. Choose enough required pieces so RowHero can determine where to place the data. The numbers in the top right indicate "Selected Pieces/Required Pieces."
  3. Tap "Import" to add your data back to the Missing Results screen.

Step 6. Review and Save the Imported Data

  1. At this point your pieces have not been saved yet. Check the imported results for accuracy and tap "Save" to confirm them.

Tips

RowHero matches imported pieces with athlete's pieces automatically using these rules:

  1. Fill Empty Pieces: If you import just enough pieces to fill empty slots, RowHero assigns them to those empty pieces.
  2. Overwrite Manually Added Pieces: If you import enough pieces to cover all manually added pieces, RowHero replaces these, regardless of existing data.
  3. Fill All Pieces: If you import enough to cover all pieces, RowHero assigns them to every piece. Pieces previously recorded or imported by the athlete won't be overwritten.

Troubleshooting and FAQs

Issue 1: No workouts visible when trying to import from Concept2.

  • Solution: Ensure the workout in memory is compatible with the team workout pieces. RowHero will filter workouts out if they aren't compatible. For example, a 5 x 1500m workout doesn't have any pieces that a 4 x 500m workout can use.

Issue 2: Challenges with connecting to the Concept2.

Biggest Tip: Encourage your athletes to promptly inform you of any recording issues to keep their performance data complete and accurate.
